Basic Skills Test Information
Basic Skills Test:
Entry into teacher education programs requires passing scores on one of the basic skills tests approved by the State Superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction. (See Basic Skills Test options memo).
This requirement should be completed within the first semester on campus. Students should check their Advisement Report in Wings for Basic Skills Test documentation to ensure they meet the requirements set forth in the memo. Students should allow eight (8) weeks for the documentation of the official test scores to be sent from the testing organization to UWL and to be recorded.
Praxis II--Middle School Contest Test (#0146 or #5146):
All degree-seeking and add-on candidates earning Cross-Categorical Special Education certification must pass the Praxis II--Middle School Content Test and have their official scores sent to UW-La Crosse prior to the student teaching semester.
All degree-seeking and add-on candidates earning Cross-Categorical Special Education certification must pass the Foundations of Literacy Test and have their official scores sent to UW-La Crosse prior to the student teaching semester.
