Midway - A Vision From the Past
Midway - A Vision of the Past was a program produced by ETC in cooperation with the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center. This documentary follows an archaeology dig north of La Crosse, Wisconsin near Holmen. The village beginning excavated dates back to the 1490's and was inhabited by the Oneota people. The program shows the entire archeology process from mapping the area, plotting the locale, and performing the actual excavation. Artifacts from the actual dig are described and shown. The program has appeared on PBS- Wisconsin Public Television several times. It has won an Award of Excellence from the International Television Association-Greater Wisconsin Chapter and also a National Telly Award. |

Battle at Bad Axe
This program was produced in cooperation with the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center at UW-La Crosse. The program was partially funded through a grant from the Wisconsin Humanities Committee. The half-hour video program was aired on Wisconsin Public Television-PBS, WXOW-TV La Crosse, and Wisconsin cable stations.
The Battle at Bad Axe took 18 months to complete, required 13 scripting versions, and utilized over 1000 minutes of video footage. The program has won an Award of Merit, and a Special Achievement Award in Script Writing from the International Television Association-Greater Wisconsin Chapter.
The program traces the evolving of the Blackhawk War to the culmination of the actual battle at Bad Axe. Twelve separate narrative voices help tell the plight of Blackhawk, the Sauk Indians, and the military engagement which occurred in 1832. Actual documents from the Blackhawk War Papers were utilized. Music is used throughout the program with some original scoring as well. |
