Description/Primary
Responsibilities:
The
English Department at the University of Wisconsin – La
Crosse invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor in Rhetoric and Writing Studies,
beginning Fall 2009. We seek a new colleague who is an
engaging teacher and scholar with a strong commitment to
undergraduate education. Primary upper level teaching
responsibilities will be in courses in our new and
expanding Rhetoric and Writing major emphasis, as well
as regular assignments in freshman composition. We
desire applicants with expertise in professional
writing, including business, technical, and science
writing. Experience or potential with undergraduate
rhetoric and writing studies curriculum, including
theory, prose style and editing, and writing in the
disciplines and writing across the curriculum are also
desirable. Multicultural, international, disability, and
diversity perspectives in teaching, scholarship, and
curriculum development especially welcome.
The UW-L English Department has a
strong commitment to multicultural and international
education and opportunities exist for curriculum
development and reform in these and other areas.
Qualifications (minimum and desirable):
A PhD in English with a
Rhetoric and Writing Studies concentration, or an
equivalent PhD, in hand by August 31, 2009, is
required, as well as a strong record of undergraduate
teaching, including freshman writing. Teaching load is
