MTH145: Elementary Statistics Course information for section 23, 4:15 pm, MTWTh, Room 047 Cowley FALL SEMESTER, 2013 Teacher: Dr. Matchett Text materials: Posted on D2L and course website. Use of other resources, as needed, such as the internet or Murphy Library, is encouraged. Bring to class each day: (1) A calculator (2) Relevant tables Regarding (1), the calculator need not be a graphics calculator. A basic scientific calculator is sufficient. Regarding (2), we will cover the Z, T, F, and Chi-squared distributions. Tables of each of these distributions should be brought to class from the time we first discuss the distribution until the end of the semester. The tables are posted on the course website and can easily be printed. We will also use a random number table. The specific random number table we will use is posted on the course website along with the other tables. The course will include an introduction to SPSS, and will include opportunities to use that software in writing up homework assignments. Grades will be based on exams, in-class exercises, and homework. There will be a total of 500 possible points. A student's grade will be determined by what percentage of those points he or she earns.
