Experience

Lecturer for Teaching With Integrated Technology I & II. Department of Educational Studies, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, August 2008-. Developed and teach two new courses in technology integration for teacher education students, including teaching one course online.

Instructional Designer for United Building Centers, June 2006-November 2006. Responsibilities included developing designing and producing computer/web-based self–instructional training programs.

Assistant Professor/Program Coordinator for General Education Intro to Computing Course, Computer Science Dept., University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, August 2001-May 2004. Responsibilities included developing curriculum, coordinating instructional staff, lecturing large groups, teaching computer labs and assessing students for a general education course of 700 students per semester. The curriculum included html, spreadsheets, database design, introduction to Java, computer architecture, history, and ethics, and the responsible use of technology. I introduced multimedia lectures and online courseware to the program.

Music Technology, Music Theory, Multimedia Teacher at Central High School and Logan, High School.  Instrumental music teacher at Logan Middle School, School District of La Crosse, La Crosse, WI, 2000-2001.  Taught web-enhanced music and multimedia classes including electronic instruments, MIDI sequencing, music notation software, computer-assisted instruction, multimedia and digitized media, Internet and telecommunications, audio and video editing, and responsible use of technology.

General Music Teacher at Longfellow Middle School, School District of La Crosse, La Crosse, WI, 1998-1999.  Taught general music in 6, 7, & 8th grades and School of Technology and Arts charter school. 

Clinical Experience Coordinator for the School of Education, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, 1992-1998.  Coordinated prestudent teaching clinical placements with local schools and teacher education programs for 400 students per semester, advised students, developed and implemented school-university partnership program based on John Goodlad’s National Network for Educational Renewal model.

Summer Band Lesson Instructor for the School District of La Crosse, La Crosse, Wisconsin, 1990-94.  Taught private lessons to middle school band students.


Director of The Literacy Center, La Crosse, Wisconsin, 1988-90.  Developed and implemented pilot literacy project in 1986 at Christ Episcopal Church, incorporated organization in 1987 to provide learner-centered literacy training for Southeast Asian refugees, established curriculum, organized volunteer recruitment and training program, supervised VISTA volunteers (federal ACTION program), raised over $65,000 in grants (including Community Development Block Grant), presented programs for area organizations.

English As A Second Language Instructor for the School District of La Crosse, La Crosse, Wisconsin.  Summers of 1986-88.

Middle School Band Director, Bethel Tate Middle School, Bethel, Ohio, 1978-84.  Developed curriculum and policies for instrumental music grades 5 through 8, taught instrument classes, general music and conducted bands.
