As a botanist and university professor, I am interested in promoting botany at the university level. However, many students in my classes are pre-service teachers and non-biology majors. I have co-mentored several pre-service teacher projects. I also teach workshops and give presentations to in-service teachers. I just completed a series of workshops (2000-2003) aimed at K-8 teachers in the Onalaska School District funded through an Eisenhower Teacher Professional Development grant. Most of the projects and much of the university service I am involved with focuses on promoting botanical education.
