Teaching: As one of the math educators in the department, I frequently teach courses for pre-service teachers in addition to more traditional mathematics coursework. Click the teaching link for details.

Research: As a mathematics educator, I am interested in how students come to understand mathematics. My background and current research is focused on procedural understanding in algebra and algebraic thinking; see the WITQ 2007-08 link for more information on a related project, or click the research link for more information.

I am also currently exploring the use of podcasts and SMART Board^TM technology in my teaching, and I have been involved in the Praxis-WI project for creating online learning objects to help students prepare for the Praxis tests.

Personal Interests: Canoeing, hiking, camping, digital photography.
