Advice for Students taking Math in the Future

What advise would you give to a students taking a Math class next semester?

What are the things that would help them do well in the course?

 

·            Do all of your homework. Do not get behind. Take all quizzes seriously. Study early for all the tests. Go to class!

·            Read over all your notes every night! Do the daily assigned homework. Try to stay caught up, and do problems when studying for tests/ quizzes.

·            Try and do your homework. Use quizzes as study guides for tests. Repetition is the key.

·            Do the homework or at least look over problems often. Know all the variations for problems because the quizzes can be tricky.

·            Do homework every night; even if it is just a little bit and you don’t finish.

·            It’s like any other math class; do the homework, keep up, and you will be fine.

·            The recipe cards are definitely helpful…I used them for the first two tests and not the last test and did significantly better on the first two than on the last test. Also make sure you stay on top of all the homework assignments because everything builds on the previous sections.

·            Do homework everyday and go to class everyday. Study quizzes, it’ll help.

·            You should keep up on homework, go to class, pay attention, and you should be fine!!!

·            Keep up o homework. Once you fall behind it is hard to catch up. The material builds on itself and is hard to comprehend without having studied the previous assignment- ask questions is something isn’t clear or you’ll end up really confused. The recipe cards are a good review, especially for the final.

·            Do the homework on a daily basis. There are a lot of opportunities to ask questions about it the next day. Use the recipe card method- it actually helps. Review quizzes before the exams!

·            When studying for exams understand all the concepts from previous quizzes and study from the quizzes. Do the index cards for each section.

·            Keep up with homework- it helps.

·            Study tests and quizzes for exams. Study for quizzes which are on Friday. Come to class. Ask questions and get help early if needed.

·            Stay on top of homework and reviewing notes, if you start falling behind get help right away. If you don’t get help the second half of the class will be tough.

·            Take this class when you have a lot of time to devote to it. Homework takes up a lot of time and you have to do it. The calc tutor is helpful but you have to have time to devote to it.

·            Keys to success: Do homework- repetition is really good, Come to class- regularly (everyday), Don’t be afraid to go to the tutor lab (very helpful).

·            Ask a lot of questions in class and do your homework and don’t put it off and get behind. Go to the tutor if you don’t understand something, do well on your Friday quiz; the points will add up and can help you if you didn’t do well on a test.

·            Do the homework!!!! Go get the help.  If you get behind it is hard to catch back up.  Make sure you understand how things work, you will use them later.

·            Do the homework and redo the quizzes before the tests.

·            Come to every class that you possibly can because each day you learn a lot of material and miss class can put you very behind.

·            Do your homework and keep up with it because it is much easier to do an hour or two a night instead of cramming 8 hours of catch up in before an exam.

·            Don’t be afraid to ask questions, asking just one question can open up your understanding to a subject you may have been lost with before.

·            Do the homework.  Ask questions about stuff you are unsure of.  Don’t study the night before, do a little bit every night.  Come to class everyday.

·            Do all the homework and assignments, if only a few problems.  This will help keep stuff in your mind and help you better understand.  The quizzes are very important for the tests.  They have all the concepts that will be on the test.

·            Practice and practice and practice more problems!  Doing homework each night, review notes sometime after lecture.

·            Come to class! (You really need to!) Do the assigned homework, it really helps.  Come to class with questions and don’t be afraid top ask them!

·            Do the homework and come to class.  Pay attention and ask questions.

·            Prepare a lot for quizzes!  It will help you a lot in the long term.  Homework is the most important thing you can do in the class.

·            Study.  Get help if you need it!  Ask questions.

·            Do the homework every night and make note-cards.  This will really help your quiz scores and tests.

·            Make sure you come to class and do ALL homework.  You can’t fall behind too far or else you may not get back on track.  And don’t freak out about class, its fine.

·            Come to class.  Do the homework!  Read the sections.  Go to the help sessions, they will answer your questions and help you look at the problems in a different way.  Don’t be afraid to go talk to Dr. Kelly, she really wants you to do well and is extremely willing to help you.  She helped me a lot.

·            Make sure you come to all of the lectures and ALWAYS do your homework.

·            Don’t get behind.  Do your homework.

·            Do your homework, on time.  If you get behind for some reason, catch up ASAP.

·                 Do at least some problems of the homework and don’t get behind.

·                 This class does not have to be hard of you don’t let it.  Make sure you come to class everyday and pay attention! (Take useful notes, ask questions, etc.)  Also, DO THE HOMEWORK!!!!!  I’ll be honest, I didn’t do as much as I should have, and my grade dropped as a result.
