The purpose of this website is to provide an introduction to the PRAXIS Wisconsin project, the primary project underway at the Institute for Innovation in Undergraduate Research and Learning (IIURL) at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. The PRAXIS Wisconsin Project, a technology-enhanced professional development program funded by the University of Wisconsin System’s Institute for Innovations in Undergraduate Research and Learning. The primary purpose of this program was to involve mathematics faculty and preservice elementary and secondary teachers as designers of digital learning objects for mathematics. Initially, the components of the learning objects were intended to help prepare educators for the mathematics portion of the Educational Testing Service’s Praxis II: Elementary Education and Middle School Content Knowledge Tests, two state-required licensing tests. Embedded elements in the project have opened avenues for how the process of creating digital learning objects supports preservice teachers’ connection of the mathematical knowledge for teaching through the use of innovative technologies. |
