CHM 103 Five credits. General Chemistry I
An introduction to chemistry including topics in atomic structure,
chemical
bonding, molecular structure, chemical stoichiometry, reactivity,
states
of matter, solutions, acid-base theory, and nuclear chemistry, and also
including
selected topics in descriptive and applied chemistry. Scientific
inquiry,
experimental design and data analysis are included. Lect. 3, Lab. 3,
Disc.

CHM 103 Lab meets Wednesdays 11:00 A.M. to 2:05 P.M.starting
Sept. 5 (first week of classes). The first day will be devoted to
check-in, safety discussions and descriptions of how the course will be
run. Meet in
room 402 CH.

Bruce R. Osterby and Roland R. Roskos
The lab text will be required for the second week of lab. It can
be
purchased in the bookstore. A new copy is required.
You
may not use someone's old book since data sheets from the book will be
turned
in for each lab. Starting with Experiment 3: Determination
of the Formula of a Compound safety goggles will be required.
Students without goggles will not be allowed
in the laboratory. Goggles can be purchased from the Chem Club at
the
stockroom.
