CHM 103 LAB GRADING SPRING 2007

GRADING:

Math Review 10 points
10
* 12 data sheets x 10 points each =    120
 * ~12 quizzes x 10 points each =  ~120
* safety and attendance =    +/-3
* check-out = -1 if not done

TOTAL ~ 250

At the end of each day's work you must have your completed data sheet initialed and dated by your instructor.  There will also be questions from your lab book assigned for each laboratory experiment. ( CHM 103 Assignments )  They will not be collected but are good sources of questions or question types for the quizzes.  There will be a quiz on the previous day's work at the start of each laboratory period.  The first quiz will be on safety and covers safety discussions in class and the American Chemical Society safety video which you will see on the first day.  Your data sheet from the previous lab is due as you turn in the quiz. The data sheet may be used during the quiz.  Class notes, the lab book or completed questions may not be consulted during the quiz.

Attendance is required for each laboratory period.  If you must miss lab, you are expected to make arrangements to attend another section of 103 lab the same week and have the instructor initial your data sheet to indicate you attended his/her laboratory.  You will make up any quizzes missed on the day you return to lab.  Contact me if make-up in this way is not possible or you have an absence you need to arrange.

Generally speaking, final grades will be based on your percentage of the total available points:

% Grade
90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
< 60 F

A final letter grade, possibly including a plus or minus, will be submitted to your lecture instructor for incorporation into your course grade as outlined by your lecture instructor.
