Assessment
“In an online classroom, assessment is a very important part of the communication process that helps students build their skills and knowledge base and more importantly aids their personal/professional growth” (Lehmann p.63).
I use formative assessment which guides students in fixing their own mistakes and helps them grow as they progress through the course. I also use rubrics for projects and the online discussion participation. Classroom participation is a major component of assessment in online learning. Other means of assessment used are quizzes and exams, practice problems, research papers, and peer evaluations. In the clinical setting, assessment involves clinical case presentations, lab projects, clinical competencies, and clinical affective evaluations.
