Dissertation: Employee Turnover and Length of Stay in the Maquiladora
Industry of
Chihuahua, Chihuahua,
Mexico.
This research project analyzes the extent to which demographic variables
related to family responsibility, and work variables related to pay,
on‑the‑job training, and job contents influence length of stay at
multinational corporations involved in offshore sourcing production
processes. The work histories of 1,500 individuals employed in six
maquiladora plants are examined using a discrete time method of analysis of
event history data. |

The
study was funded by Ford Motor Company, Digital Equipment Corporation, the
Harvard Institute of International Development, and the Business and
Professional Women's Foundation. |
