Ed.D. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy, 1994.

Dissertation: Employee Turnover and Length of Stay in the Maquiladora Industry of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. This research project analyzes the extent to which demographic variables related to family responsibility, and work variables related to pay, on‑the‑job training, and job contents influence length of stay at multinational corporations involved in offshore sourcing production processes.  The work histories of 1,500 individuals employed in six maquiladora plants are examined using a discrete time method of analysis of event history data.

The study was funded by Ford Motor Company, Digital Equipment Corporation, the Harvard Institute of International Development, and the Business and Professional Women's Foundation.

Was granted tenure in July 1998, promoted to Associate Professor in July 1996, and to professor in Spring 2001. Teaching/taught at undergraduate and/or MBA levels: Organizational Behavior and Theory, Organizational Behavior, and Principles of Management, International Human Resource Management, Emergent Leadership and Team Development.

Also team-taught: The Global Environment of Business, Comparative Management Systems, and U.S. and Mexico: A Relationship in Transition.

Received the “Women of Color in Higher Education,” award for UWL at 24th Annual Women’s Studies Conference and 15th Annual Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies.  Award given for “ outstanding achievements to the university community, and in particular, diversity”. Latin American Consultant, Gray, Judson, Howard, Cambridge, MA.  1989.

Researched, set up, and coordinated 280 interviews in seven Latin American countries for a marketing research project petitioned by a Fortune 500 multinational corporation.

Research Assistant, HGSE, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. 1984‑1986.  Provided technical support in the following research projects:

Brazilian Street Children Project.  A UNICEF/HGSE strategic planning endeavor, designed to develop economic, health, literacy, and character development indicators for use in the evaluation of programs for street children in Brazil.

Student Choice Project.  A quantitative study examining the relationship among key variables perceived to influence student choice between college and non‑college options.

Single Sex Study.  A comparison of the effects of single‑sex versus coeducational secondary schooling, drawn from High School and Beyond,  a large longitudinal data base of American high school students sponsored the National Center for Educational Statistics.

Catholic School Project.  Another quantitative study seeking to identify factors associated with the effectiveness of Catholic secondary schools through a broad exploration of the prevailing academic and social organization found in such educational institutions.

Minority Alumni Survey.  A survey designed to review minority alumni involvement and their relationship to HGSE.

Policy Intern,  Office of Training and Employment Policy, State Department of Economic Security, Boston, MA.  Spring‑Summer 1985. Participated in the development and implementation of a state‑wide survey of services available for at‑risk youth.

Intern, UNESCO, Palais Des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland. Summer 1982.  Selected as student representative from Columbia University for an internship with UNESCO at Plenary Committee meetings of the United Nation's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).  Drew up a comprehensive economic and social report for UNESCO's headquarters in Paris.

Program Coordinator,  C.G. Jung Foundation, New York, NY.  Fall 1977‑Summer 1981.  Supervised and coordinated the activities of the Center.  Administered educational programs offered to the general public.  Succeeded in raising revenues by 200% while decreasing expenditures by 33%.

Social Services Coordinator,  Centro De Familia,  San Diego, CA.  Fall 1976‑Summer 1977.  Developed social services for Hispanic Community.  Co‑founded Fronteras,  a binational committee established to alleviate border problems between San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico. This committee has since expanded to the Federal level.

Director,  Escuela Americana De Cananea, Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. Summer 1969. As initial director of this English‑speaking grammar school in Mexico, helped form Advisory Council and Board of Directors, obtain financial support, and develop curriculum for grades 1‑3.  School now offers up to junior high certification.

Tri‑lingual Interpreter,  International Olympic Committee, Olympic Games, Mexico City.  Summer‑Fall 1968.

Faculty College 2000 at Richland Center, WI, June 1-4, 2000. This conference, sponsored by the Undergraduate Teaching Improvement Council (UTIC), brings together professors from the various campuses involved in the University of Wisconsin (UW) system.  It aims to provide a conducive environment to discuss issues related to teaching and learning.
