Juggling

Goal 1.  Students will learn to teach “hard skills”

Objective 1. Students will witness one example of unison teaching.

Objective 2. Students will witness one example of gymnastic thinking.

Objective 3. Students will be part of one example of one-on-one teaching.

Objective 4. Students will witness one example of progressive skill development.

Objective 5. Students will witness one example of backtracking.

Goal 2. Students will learn to juggle.

Objective 1. All students will be able to correctly toss one ball.

Objective 2. All students will be able to correctly toss two balls.

Objective 3. 50% of students will toss three balls at least four times.

Objective 4. All students will understand juggling’s horizontal and vertical planes.

Objective 5. All students will understand the eggbeater motion of juggling.

  1. What are five techniques of teaching “hard skills” that were used today?
  1. With 1 being very disappointed and 10 being very satisfied, how satisfied are you with your level of progress today?  Explain the reason for your rating.

Analysis/Feelings

  1. Which teaching technique helped you progress the most?  Why?
  1. Where did you get stuck in terms of learning to juggle?  Be explicit.
  1. Did you or others get frustrated today?  If so, why do you think that happened?  What should the leader have done to address boredom?
  1. Did you or others get bored today?  If so, why do you think that happened?  What should the leader have done to address boredom?

Synthesis/Transference

  1. Which of the five techniques have you used before in your own teaching
  1. How could you use a technique from today and apply it to your own teaching?  Be as specific as possible?
