Using Internet Data Meaningfully

Applications for Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies Secondary School Teachers

A UW System VIT2AL project

The goal of this project was to create a set of curriculum modules that can be used by secondary school teachers of science, mathematics, and social studies, and which apply sound statistical reasoning to questions requiring the analysis of data obtained over the Internet.  Modules give information on specific Internet sites to access, how to download the pertinent data into a computer or calculator, what statistical analyses to perform, and how to make connections between the data obtained and the specific subject matter.  Complete lesson plans along with student assignments, worksheets and evaluation are included. Also included is a list of which Wisconsin Model Academic Standards are addressed in each lesson.

Would you like to incorporate some of these applications into your curriculum?
