Teaching For Diversity (TFD)
TFD is a community of faculty and academic staff dedicated to improving how well we teach students from many underserved populations, and to addressing the issues that faculty from underrepresented groups face as instructors.
TFD meets every other Tuesday in Beautiful 111 Wimberly Hall from 4:00 to 5:30.
Our discussions usually proceed from an essay the group has read prior to each gathering. See the schedule for meeting dates and readings.
Our website also serves UW-L by collecting in one location a broad range of curriculum infusion resources and current research on teaching and learning issues related to the diversity of both students and faculty. See the navigation bar on the left for more information.
What is "Diversity"?
". . . race/ethnicity, gender, culture, religion, mental or physical abilities, age, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status." The UW-L College of Liberal Studies Diversity Committee adopted this definition April, 2002; the UW-L Affirmative Action and Diversity Council (now Campus Climate Council) endorsed it the following year.
