At its meeting 3/10/09 meeting, the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee revised its Extent of Majors Policy. We ask that you consider adopting this change...there are already a few programs that have exceeded the 40 cr. threshold (typically the addition of a 1 cr. capstone course). While we would like to minimize "credit creep" in programs, we would also like to put language in place that allows for flexibility in exceptional cases as UCC sees fit.
Extent of Majors Policy
"No department may require more than 40 semester credits in one major unless it becomes necessary to do so in order to 1) meet external requirements for certification or accreditation as prescribed by an external agency or accrediting group or 2) approved by the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee in exceptional cases."
