Email message from Tim Keneipp, Volunteer/President of the Driftless Region Bicycle Coalition, concerning Complete Streets

Dated January 3, 2011

Ladies & Gentlemen of the UW-L Faculty Senate,

I am writing to you about an ongoing effort to improve the sustainability and livability of our communities. The Driftless Region Bicycle Coalition is currently working to introduce Complete Streets resolutions & ordinances at all levels of government in the Driftless Region. We are seeking the public support of leading community organizations such as UW-L to show our elected leaders that the Complete Streets concept has broad community support. We spoke with Chancellor Gow last year and he directed us to contact his advisory councils directly and that with their support he would then give the University's support to our Complete Streets Efforts.

To date, the Classified Staff Advisory Council and the Student Senate at UW-L have both officially endorsed Complete Streets. I am attaching both resolutions to this email. I am asking you to consider a similar resolution at the next possible Faculty Senate meeting. We are starting a push this spring and would love to have the University behind Complete Streets. You will find more information on Complete Streets and our efforts on our website:  I am also available to come speak to the council about Complete Streets. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have or when the Senate decides to act on supporting Complete Streets.

Thank You,

Tim Keneipp
