The Meeting was called to order at 1:08 p.m. by chair Rob Wolf.

M/S/P unanimously to approve the September 29, 2000, minutes distributed by Dianne Morrison subject to two minor changes (1) the spelling of Barry Schockmel’s  name and  (2) in item 4, the approval will be given by the Foreign Language Department (the original minutes list the Spanish Department).

The first item on the agenda was the consideration of  J-term wavier requests. Leslie Oganowski , the instructor of the course, and Dan Duquette represented the college of HPERTE. The college was seeking a waiver to allow them to run HED 251 during the J term. The current rules would require them to meet with the students on at least 4 separate days, and this course is currently taught in a 2-day format. This is the last time this course will be taught, and a few students need it to graduate.

M/S/P to approve a single  J-term waiver request in regard to the two-day format of HED 251 for the 2001 J-term.

The committee then discussed a similar request for the course HED 455/655. The college of HPERTE was seeking a waiver to allow them to run HED 455/655 during the J and M terms in a 2-day format. The current rules require them to meet with the students on at least 4 separate days. The committee discussed many aspects of the request and the merits of the current policy.

M/S/P to approve a single J-term and a single M-term waiver request to allow HED 455/655 to run in a two-day format during the J and M terms of 2001.

The committee postponed the discussion of the J-term Report until early in the Spring Semester.

The meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Robert H. Hoar (Rotating Secretary)
