Loh presented a revised draft of the Summer Session Start Date Appeal Form.  The form was unanimously approved pending minor revisions.  Loh will ask Schumacher to send the form out to department chairs.

b.      Discussion of Fall 2004 and 2005 enrollments

Bob Hoar, as a member of the Advisory Board to the Provost’s Task Force on 2005 Enrollments, presented the following for CAPS discussion and possible action.  For 2005, the number of seats available to be filled by new freshmen or transfer students has grown by approximately 100 over the number available in 2004.  In 2004, the target enrollment numbers were 300 for transfers and 1590 for new freshman.  How should those 100 extra seats be apportioned between target numbers for new freshmen and transfer students?

Discussion considered the current admissions requirements and success rates of new freshman and transfer

students, as well as the resource needs of each group.

Motion:  Rott moved that CAPS endorse the fall 2005 transfer student enrollment target remaining at 300.  Crutchfield seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously (9-0-0).

4.  The meeting was adjourned at 12:55 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Crutchfield
