M/S/P, approve minutes of 12/3/07 as written; voice vote, unanimously
Assessment Task Force proposal will be untabled for Senate
M/S/P, unanimously, voice vote - GEC list of "demands":
1. committee external to GEC to carry out the process of GE program assessment
2. two-way communication between the committee & GEC
3. GE has some role to play in determining the assessment parameters for the GE program
Sub-committee work during J-Term
- Distribution of text & format of "GE Structure Survey," for discussion at later meeting
- Send follow-up email to departments who haven't
submitted the GenEd mapping exercise, with request for more
than one SLO
- Salvage report & discussion of the following:
1. accounting for specified credit total of 46 (compared to 48)
2. student choices remaining after required courses
3. FYE options (possible content overlap)
4. Tier 1 deadline of 75 credits (v. 60 or another lower #)
5. real change in program or just re-arrangement of present courses?
6. pressure to make major program changes under Senate deadline?
