The meeting was called to order at 10:04 am by Carol Angell.

 

1.      M/S/P (12-0-0) to approve minutes from the April 24, 2009, meeting.

 

2.      Announcements

 

VJ announced that the UW-L Foundation will have a fund that contributors can donate to that will be used for scholarships for graduate students.

 

3.      Consideration of 3-year degree holders in UW-L grad programs

 

M/S/P (12-0-0) to resolve that the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse shall evaluate bachelor’s degrees or their equivalent from U.S. institutions, Bologna Accord certified institutions and other accredited institutions across the world to determine their eligibility for graduate admission consideration at UW-L. The decision to admit a student shall rest with the graduate program.

 

4.      Thesis submission for MINDS@UW

 

M/S/P (12-0-0) to immediately allow the Library to accept an electronic copy of a thesis, seminar paper, or culminating project that is approved by the Office of Graduate Studies (complete with signed signature page) to be placed on MINDS@ UW as the circulation copy.

 

5.      Academic Appeals process

 

M/S/P (9-0-0)[1] to approve the 5-8-09 draft of the Academic Appeals policy and flowchart with the changes agreed upon in the discussion of the document.

 

 

6.      Waiver of 9 credit hours for full-time student status

 

M/S/P (9-0-0) to move into closed session to take action on waiving 9 credit hours for full-time student status requirement.

M/S/P (9-0-0) to waive the 9 credit hours for full-time student status requirement and to allow 6 credit hours for full time status for the Fall 2009 semester for an MSE student.

 

M/S/P (9-0-0) to move out of closed session.
