THA 130 Multicultural U.S. Plays: Acting the Text 3cr., New Course , effective
Spring 2010
In this performance based course, students will study dramatic literature from multiple cultures within U.S. society. Plays will be selected from African – American, Asian – American, Native American, Hispanic – American, Lesbian/Gay/ Transgendered/Bisexual and other cultures for study. Students will research cultural context, analyze the plays, develop basic skills in performance, and prepare and perform scenes from the plays under study, in order to enhance student awareness and exchange ideas about the multi – cultural nature of the U.S. No acting experience is required. This course will serve as elective in all theatre majors and minors emphases, except Music Theatre

ENG 482 Advanced Study of Women’s Literature 3cr., Course revision – change in prerequisites course description repeatable for credit, effective Fall 2009
This course offers advanced study of particular aspects of women’s aesthetic expression – the novel, poetry, drama, film, autobiography, and other genres are possible primary texts. Students will engage with more advanced theoretical approaches through critical/ contextual readings, while studying the gendered politics of producing and consuming women’s artistic work. Approaches might include cultural studies, psychoanalytic theory, socio- linguistics, global matriarchal traditions, new historicism, and feminist theory. Focus will vary with instructor. Prerequisite: 3 credits in 200 – level English courses; junior standing or higher recommended. Repeatable for credit—maximum 6. No more than 3 credits may be applied to an English major or minor.
Note: during the meeting the “repeatable for credit” option was eliminated, but later that change was rescinded. Course continues to be repeatable for credit-max. 6.
Non – teaching English majors and minors continue to need ENG 301 before enrolling in a second 300 – level literature course

Sociology Research Course College of Liberal Studies Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Core Requirements.
Complete a research emphasis course or a sequence of courses in the major program from the following list of applicable courses. Soc 350, Sociological Research and one of the following: SOC 405, Quantitative Social Research Seminar, SOC 410, Sociology Honors Project, SOC 416, Qualitative Explorations, SOC 480, Comparative Sociology or SOC 499, Seminar in Sociology.
Change the effective date of the prefix changes for CI, CS, IS, MS, RT, WGS from Fall 2009 to Summer 2009.

5. Old Business: On-line courses and UCC charges
Committee discussed role of UCC in on-line courses. It was shared that SEC had discussed possibly charging various committees with developing guidelines and that the CLS dean has charged that college’s core committee with a similar task. The committee asked Chair Rolfhus to contact Brian Udermann, on-line education coordinator, about the on-line advisory council and its activities. Perhaps he could come to a future UCC meeting.
UCC charges were revisited.
