Announcements from VJ:
Oct. 28 is research grants deadline.
In the past funding for the Faculty Research Grants has been $150,000; this year it will be $200,000
Last year we had 40 proposals and we funded 15. This year VJ is expecting 60 proposals because of new faculty members
VJ has initiated a faculty mentoring program.
CLS is doing two workshops to encourage grant writing.
There will be an announcement on Monday in Campus Connection about the due date and mentoring program.
After due date, committee will have access to all the proposals no later than Nov. 2.
Discussion:
Discussion of extensive meeting times for interviews, including discussion of option to interview only finalists or split the committee into two interview groups. Committee decided to stay with past procedures but consider modifications for next year.
