Minutes of the International Education Committee Meeting
September 17, 2010, 2:00 – 3:00 pm, 326 Cartwright
Attendance: Members- Dave Anderson, Sheri Ross, Gary Gilmore, Bianca Basten, Pat Ardovino, Walter Elder, Hsiao-Fen Yang.
Absent: John Greany, Futaba Okamoto
Committee Consultant: Eric Kraemer (Dir INS minor),
Meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by Gary Gilmore (convener).
Agenda:
I. Introductions
a.
members introduced themselves
II.
Gary Gilmore reviewed for the committee the responsibilities of the
committee and noted that at this time there were no special charges from the
faculty Senate.
III. Committee Secretary
a. John Greany nominated himself via communications with Gary Gilmore
b.
M/S/P – John Greany to serve as the committee secretary
IV. Committee Chair
a. David Anderson nominated
b.
M/S/P – David Anderson to serve as the Chair of the International
Education Committee
V. Meeting times
a. Discussed possible meeting times for Fall semester.
b.
Dave Anderson and Gary Gilmore would review the doodle poll data and
solicit additional information as needed to finalize the selection of a meeting
time.
VI. Curricular Issue
a. Sheri Ross introduced the developing an INS course in the 300 level to provide a for credit option for service learning trips abroad. Discussion followed. Agreed to add topic to the agenda for the next meeting where Sheri would have a draft of an LX form available for review and comment
