Student Employment
Federal Work Study
The Federal Work-Study (FWS) program provides
part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with
significant financial need, allowing them to earn money to assist
with their educational expenses. A student must complete an
Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) in order to determine eligibility for
the FWS program. To qualify for the program, students must meet
specific financial aid requirements. If the student qualifies for
the program, a Work-Study allocation will be part of his/her
financial aid award proposal, along with information on a placement.
Many on-campus positions are filled by Federal
Work-Study students. Off-campus Community Service Work-Study
opportunities are also available. These opportunities must be
certified as public service and/or private non-profit organizations
working for the greater good of the community. Again, students must
meet specific financial aid requirements in order to qualify.
Positions, both on- and off-campus, are limited to 20 hours per
week and are paid at least the current federal minimum wage.
