Q: When do I arrive?
A:
Participants who choose sign up for the
canoeing, kayaking or rock climbing trips can move into your residence hall room on Saturday, August 23, 2008
. Typically most students arrive with everything and move into the room, other students come with just what they need for the trip and family comes the following weekend (Saturday,
August 30) with the rest of the student's belongings.
If you choose the kayaking and climbing trip
you'll move in on the normal university new
student move in day.
Q: Where do we stay when we are on campus?
A: You'll be staying in your residence hall room that was assigned to you for the year.
Q: What if I have never been camping, canoeing, climbing or kayaking before?
A: Don't worry, many of the participants have never been camping before and students discover that they really enjoy camping as a group. On the trip your leaders will teach you all the basic skills you will need to be comfortable.
Q: When can I move in to my room?
A: Canoe and Climbing participants can move in on Sunday, August 26, 2007 Kayaker's can move in on Saturday, August 25. You'll need to report to the res hall you were assigned to pick up your key. You can move your belongings into your room.
Q: What kind of shape do I need to be in?
A: We have a variety of trips at many different levels of fitness. We will attempt to place you in the most appropriate trip for you based on the information in your application form. We encourage everyone to engage in some type of regular physical activity in preparation for the trip.
Q: Do I need any special equipment?
A: You'll need to provide your own sleeping bag, appropriate clothing and we will provide all the group camping equipment. The Outdoor Connection does have a limited number of sleeping bags and pads for rent but not
enough for everyone. Both can be reserved on a first come first serve basis and are only $10.
