In a world of limited energy and resources, UW-L and the State of Wisconsin continue to build, maintain and operate all facilities in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner. This commitment can be demonstrated from our origins, through today and into the future. A prime demonstration of the “built to last” approach is exemplified in UW-L’s Graff Main Hall. Graff Main Hall was constructed in 1909 and has received many efficiency updates over its storied history. This commitment carries through to new building projects and every significant facility renovation that must be designed and constructed to be 30% more energy efficient than commercial code. Through various State regulatory and administrative commitments UW-L is positioned for continued enhancement of sustainable facility construction and operations. Notable among these commitments are Executive Order 145 and the Sustainable Facilities Standards.
