Waivers
Under some circumstances, you may request a waiver to substitute a course for a required GE course. If you would like to request a waiver for a GE course, please contact your College Office who can help you with this request.
If you want to waive a writing emphasis requirement, you will need to appeal to the General Education Committee (GEC). Contact the Chairperson of the GEC and send her/him a reason and justification for the request, a copy of your SNAP report, and any supporting letters from faculty members if you have them. Other information may also be requested of you. The Chairperson of GEC will let you know when your waiver will be reviewed. You may choose to attend the meeting and/or to have faculty representation at this meeting. NOTE: At least two weeks may lapse between the waiver request to GEC and when the GEC meets to review it, so please plan accordingly.
