Certificate Program in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

GISA GIS is a system used to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, and display all types of spatially referenced geographic information. GIS is revolutionizing the way people manage information, making it possible to see patterns that would otherwise be invisible. The GIS job market is one of the fastest growing industries in the world in both the public and private sectors.

The GIS certificate program is designed for individuals in the workforce who are interested in GIS as either an aid to their existing jobs or for career enhancement. Our Applications of GIS courses are both offered in the evening, usually from 6:00 - 9:00 pm one day per week making it convenient for busy working adults. The programs overall structure is geared to teach students who have a basic knowledge of the field who wish to broaden their skills. Our certificate program provides students with broad exposure to principles and applications of GIS. Students will receive intensive hands-on training using the latest technologies and GIS software and will investigate practical approaches to GIS implementation and project management.
