Ronald Weinkauf Fund

Ronald Weinkauf passed away following a long battle with illness.
Dr. Weinkauf joined our department in 1979, coming to us from South Dakota State University. Ron coupled his passions for weather and the environment with his interest in technology to develop our Remote Sensing coursework at UWL. He taught both for the rest of his twenty years of tenure in our Geography and Earth Science Department.
Ron had many accomplishments in his time spent here. He was instrumental in the development of the La Crosse National Weather Service working with both UW-Madison and NASA. He conducted workshops for area high school teachers involving the application of computer related technology and the many ways it can be applied in the science field. He was also very generous with his time off campus, volunteering in a variety of ways.
Ron was well liked on campus and touched the lives of many of his students because of his dedication to teaching. A memorial fund has been established in memory of Ron with hopes of transforming the fund into a permanent scholarship in Ron's name to aid our students.
