All permanent or project classified and
unclassified employees are paid for up to three days of accumulated sick leave
for the death in the immediate family, which includes you or your spouse’s
immediate family; your spouse or your spouse equivalent, stepchildren, children
or their spouses; a person for whom you are a guardian; foster parents and
various other family members. You
may also take up to four days sick leave for the travel time to and from the
funeral.
WEAC,
UPQHC, WSP, Engineering, and WPEC contracts limit the amount of time to one day
for the following relatives; aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, or cousins
of the employee or spouse
WSEU
contracts limit it’s members to one day for the funeral of aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, god-parents of the employee or spouse.
All
union contracts specify that unless the funeral is delayed for any reason, the
bereavement leave must be used within seven days.
Immediately notify your supervisor of your need to take funeral leave and the dates you will be using. When you turn in your time sheet/leave statement for that period, you will report the time under sick leave. No other documentation is necessary.
