JURY DUTY

POLICY

Permanent & Project employees are paid for the time they are not at work because they are serving on a jury.  No use of sick leave, vacation or any other leave is required.  Employees are expected to return to work when the jury duty has ended.

Employees covered by WSEU or UPQHC contracts are required to return to work when they have not been impaneled for the day and are only on call.  Also when they have been impaneled and dismissed with four or less hours on their shift, the employee is required to call their supervisor; the employee will not be required to return to work that day and will continue in pay status.

There is no requirement to return any payment earned for jury duty.

Limited Term Employees (LTE) with appointments extending beyond the jury duty will continue their position at the completion of their jury duty but do not receive salary during jury duty.

PROCEDURE

Employees do not do anything to their time sheets or leave statements to document the time away from work.  Supervisors request a copy of the jury summons.
