General Transfer Application Process
State Employees who do not work at UW-L, or persons having reinstatement eligibility, may submit an application at any time for future vacancies. After the list of contractual candidates is exhausted (where applicable), Human Resources queries the applications for those individuals at or above the pay range of the vacancy who have expressed an interest in the particular line of work. Eligible permissive candidates are then referred to the department for interview.
Please watch the webpage for specific vacancies, as some non-represented positions do require an exam in the application process.
Applications are kept on file in Human Resources for six months. Upon expiration, it is the candidate's responsibility to resubmit an application.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to potential contractual obligations, this information does not apply to current UW-L employees. UW-L classified employees must sign up for each specific vacancy as it is announced in order to be considered. Failure to do so may result in non-consideration.
For UW-La Crosse campus safety information and crime statistics/Annual Security report, please see http://www.uwlax.edu/studentlife/securityreport.htm, and for drug and alcohol information see http://www.uwlax.edu/hr/employment/drug_free_workplace.htm, or call Human Resources at (608) 785-8013 for a paper copy.
The salary for positions will be set in accordance with the compensation language in the applicable bargaining unit agreement or non-represented compensation plan.
Individuals from off-campus will be required to serve a six-month permissive probationary period (for certain classifications a twelve month permissive probationary period may be required).
Individuals who wish to put in a general application for future opportunities, should apply by submitting: A letter of interest (i.e. cover letter) indicating current or past classification, pay range, and type of position you are interested in (please include percentage and pay ranges you will consider); A resume with three work/supervisory references; and a UW-L Application
Materials should be sent to: UW-L Human Resources - Classified Recruitment, 144 Graff Main Hall, 1725 State Street, La Crosse, WI 54601 or by faxing to (608) 785-8525.
