This position serves as the administrative assistant to the Director of the School of Education (SoE). This position manages the entire office operation including coordinating communication with all constituents in the SoE. This position provides administrative expertise in coordination and implementation of all logistical activities of the SoE office. The position requires initiative, ability to work independently, and use of sound judgment in making decisions, knowledge of University policies, and working cooperatively and pleasantly with all constituents. This position is responsible for handling all aspects of the financial budget and expenditures for the SoE office. Extensive computer knowledge is requisite, including website maintenance and support. This position involves working with confidential information therefore maintaining confidentiality is essential. Responsibilities for this position are preformed independently and under general supervision.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required: Knowledge and experience in the use of computer
software including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.),
Knowledge and experience in the use of e-mail (i.e. Outlook, Gmail) functions
including electronic calendars, Effective oral and written communication skills,
Excellent organizational and time management skills, Ability to coordinate
projects, work independently and to independently set priorities to meet the
demands of the position, The ability to multi-task when necessary, Possess an
attention to details and time lines/due dates despite frequent interruptions,
Knowledge of policies, procedures and protocols of an administrative office,
Ability to meet and work effectively with people across multiple levels of the
organization, Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding confidential
information, Ability and willingness to maintain and enhance professional
competencies by participating in professional development workshops, seminars,
and training sessions, related to current position responsibilities.
Preferred: Functional expertise with PeopleSoft Student
Information System and the University’s WISDM financial database to retrieve and
extract information, Functional expertise with HRS (Human Resource System) time
keeping system – ability to input, track and extract data, Advanced computer
skills especially in the areas of data management systems (financial systems)
and web design software, Basic knowledge of record keeping practices – accounts
payable and receivable; develop, maintain and reconcile various accounts and
purchases; cash handling and audit of accounts; budget maintenance. Ability to
plan, assign, and supervise the work of others (student supervision).
Physical Demands: The ability to sit for extended periods of time.

This is a full time position (40 hrs/wk)
Starting wage will be $15.258 per hour. The pay schedule/range is 02-11 and is non-represented. A six-month probationary period will be required.
