Step 4:  Hiring Process Checklist

  • Search Chair forwards names of recommended candidates to DO/Dean; more than one candidate can be recommended to reduce delay if an offer is declined.  Procedures may require a list of acceptable candidates to be presented: follow the approved procedures

  • DO/Dean  e-mails AAD and P/VC for approval BEFORE an offer can be extended;  HR (recruit@uwlax.edu)  should be copied by all parties on the request and response

  • DO/Dean extends offer as approved by return e-mail by both AAD and P/VC; must be within salary range limits determined by HR and budget resources approved by A&F on the front of the pink sheet authorizing the search

  • When candidate accepts, DO/Dean then ensures the Director or Search Chair compiles the records and routes using the Routing Slip for Completion of Academic Staff/Administrative Recruitment form; reviews, signs and routes packet to the P/VC; the packet includes the completed Personnel Action Form (back of the pink sheet)

  • P/VC reviews and signs and routes to HR

  • HR reviews, writes contract letter, closes search file and creates personnel file

  • Unit retains search and screen records and applicant files in secure location for 6 years and notifies HR for approval before destroying the files in the 7th year
