US News & World Report and Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazines consistently rank the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse among the best colleges in the US. The IBiS program at UW-L unites faculty and students from the departments of Biology, Chemistry, and Microbiology in common efforts to explore biology at the cell and molecular levels. IBiS researchers enjoy outstanding equipment and facilities that allow them to apply virtually every technique in modern biomolecular science. All of the IBiS faculty have extensive experience
teaching and mentoring undergraduates. We have developed a successful
model for faculty-student collaborative research which has resulted in over 26
scientific publications with undergraduate co-authors. In addition, over
230 undergraduate research presentations have been made, including numerous
presentations at national scientific meetings. The City of La Crosse is situated on the banks of
the Mississippi River in the scenic 7 Rivers Region. Plentiful outdoor
activities including 100’s of miles of bike trails, hiking, canoeing, fishing,
and birding are literally out our back door. La Crosse abounds with summer
activities including the annual
Riverfest and La Crosse Loggers
minor league baseball. Information about other events and activities
