Mission Statement
The mission of “It Make$ Cents!,” a
financial literacy program at the University of Wisconsin-La
Crosse, is
to provide students with
knowledge,
skills, and
resources
to
develop an understanding of personal finance and stay proactive
in areas such as, but not limited to, determining financial aid
options, loan repayment, fostering spending awareness,
developing a comprehensive and holistic budget, acquiring
appropriate banking knowledge, understanding progressive ways to
pay off debt, paying off credit card debt, maintaining a good
credit report, and
setting up retirement accounts.
The program plans to accomplish this mission through extensive
collaboration with other University entities in order to create
the best holistic financial literacy package to students by
taking a multifaceted approach that includes an online
curriculum, workshops, special events, residence hall
presentations, social media outreach, one-on-one consultations
and presence at campus functions, such as Freshman Orientation,
Welcome Week, and Campus Close-Up, to increase awareness,
understanding, and knowledge of relevant financial issues that
will empower them to achieve success in regards to their current
educational goals and future financial freedom.
