About Academic Technology Services
Mission:
Academic Technology Services enhances teaching, learning, and productivity by encouraging faculty, staff, and students to make effective use of current and emerging technologies.
Academic Technology Services (ATS) assists both academic and administrative areas in the effective integration of technology in teaching and learning, research, business, public service, and initiatives to support the
University mission. The core unit mission includes:
- providing assistance in enhancing student learning and achievement
- helping faculty integrate effective technology into their courses
- aiding staff to use technology to improve their productivity, effectiveness, and communication
- suggesting strategies and methodologies to improve teaching, learning, and business practices
- exploring technological solutions for teaching, learning, and productivity
- developing and implementing campus technology events, workshops, and sessions that focus on the use of technology
Academic Technology Services:
- creates effective instructional, educational, and informational multi-media materials
- conceives and designs innovative learning environments based on sound instructional design methodology and best practices for instruction
- explores emerging technologies through research and development to enhance teaching and learning
- develops creative and technology-enhanced approaches to teaching and learning through innovative and imaginative solutions
- provides faculty, staff, and students with technology instruction
- assists students with technology needs for course projects
- evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of hardware and software solutions
- provides instructional support and administration for learning management systems and associated technologies
- identify, advance, and support technology initiatives that enable faculty to teach and students to learn more effectively
Our intent is to provide the highest quality support and programs matched with excellent customer service. Our primary mission is to serve on-campus clientele, but we also work closely and collaborate with external groups. This unit serves as an important conduit to UW System with representation on the
Learning Technology Development Council (LTDC) and
EDUCAUSE.
