J Term information

  1. You must drop credits or withdraw from school officially if you do not attend class. Prior to the first day of class, this can be done via WINGS. After classes begin, if you are not attending any classes, you must withdraw from school through the Office of Student Life. If you have more than one class and want to drop only on class, you must obtain appropriate signatures and a drop slip and process it through the Office of Records & Registration. Fees will be adjusted at 100% (less a $50.00 withdrawal fee) during the first week and at 25% during the second week (of a 3-week course) UW-L reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollments.
  2. The maximum credit load is 3 credits; more credits require an override form approved by your dean.
  3. J Term courses will show as a separate term on you transcripts. GPAs will be updated on TALON approximately January 24.
  4. If you were declared "academically ineligible" after fall semester, you will be allowed to complete a J Term course. However, your spring semester schedule may be cancelled pending an appeal to your dean's office.
  5. J Term credits do not count toward full-time status for the fall or spring semester.
  6. Students who complete all requirements for graduation by the end of J Term may have their degrees awarded as of January instead of waiting until spring semester. Apply for graduation at the Office of Records & Registration.
  7. Each course is subject to the per credit fee used during the fall and spring semesters. Special course fees (if applicable) do apply. Minnesota resident fees and non-resident fees will be added. Allied health program tuition surcharges apply. Call 785-8719 for charges.
