The use of animals in research is vitally necessary for scientific and medical advances. Concurrent with the need to use animals is the responsibility for humane and compassionate care and treatment. Humane treatment of laboratory animals is an essential part of the ethical principles of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and of its individual employees. We believe that animals must be used responsibly and humanely in order to meet optimal scientific conditions for experimentation and to achieve our ethical objectives.
