INSTITUTIONAL ANIMAL CARE AND USE COMMITTEE

The University of Wisconsin - La Crosse Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) has the responsibility to insure that all procedures in which animals are used for research or teaching purposes are consistent with the contents of the latest edition of the Guide.  In addition, the IACUC is required to maintain the documentation necessary to substantiate that this is the case in accordance with PHS Policy and USDA Regulations as stipulated in the Animal Welfare Act.  Finally, the IACUC conducts semi-annual reviews of UW-L’s Animal Care and Use Program.  The review process includes inspections of animal facilities (housing and procedure rooms) and research laboratories where animal procedures are conducted.
