The State Department and Department of Defense have classified many modern world language as "critical languages," demonstrating the cricital importance and need for speakers of these languages. UW-L is proud to offer courses through the Department of Modern Languages and the Collaborative Language Program in several critical languages.

Army ROTC Cadets and Critical Languages
The following is a list of languages that Army ROTC cadets can get extra Army pay for taking:

The Army will pay $250 for every credit that a cadet takes in one of the above languages. The cadets receive their money upon completion of the class with a passing grade.
