About the Department of Modern Languages
The Department of Modern Languages provides students with intellectual language and cultural studies. We invite you to explore the information provided on this website. Current and prospective students can find helpful information about declaring a language major and program requirements by either clicking the Advising button in the navigation bar on the left or by clicking the Languages tab above and selecting your language of interest.
We pride ourselves on excellence in teaching, and we work diligently to let students see how welcome and valued they are in our department. Most instructors in the Department of Modern Languages hold a Ph.D. degree in the language they teach. Each member of the faculty has traveled, studied, and lived in a country of the language taught. If you are interested in participating in a study abroad program, we likely have a faculty member who is familiar with or specializes in that region and can help you prepare for your trip.
Most of the Modern Languages offices and classrooms and the Language Resource Center are located in Graff Main Hall. The TESOL program is located in Centennial Hall, and many courses meet in Centennial Hall classrooms.
