During the first two weeks of class, please complete the following surveys:
- The textbook by Barnett, Ziegler and Byleen contains a Basic Algebra Review in Appendix A. This covers material that is classified as "prerequisite" to the course. The Appendix begins with a Self-Test covering all of the material covered in Appendix A. Look through sections A-2 through A-9, as needed, and make sure that it is not too "rusty". The first section, section A-1, is on set notation and Venn diagrams. We will not use the Venn diagrams too often, and we will discuss in class the notation that will be used, so you can skip section A-1 for now.
Help:
- The Math Learning Center is in Whitney Food Center - (next to sub station). You can view a copy of the schedule for the room here. The schedule will change during the first few weeks as schedules are finalized, so check back from time to time (the most current schedule will also be posted on the door of the tutor room). This is a free service (actually, it is paid for by student fees, so make good use of it).
- Private tutors are available. See the Program Assistant in the Mathematics Department Office (1020 Cowley Hall) for more information.
- Disability resources are also available, ask your professor for more information.
