My Advice to a New Math 175 Student:
Some tips for the Math 175 course would come from my experience in the
class. As of me writing this now, we are done with all tests and
quizzes until the final. As I reflect my thoughts, I realize that I
thought that this math class would be more like my previous math
classes. I am fresh out of high school, and am used to the daily
graded
assignments. In high school, I got decent grades in my math courses
and
it wasn't too difficult. So coming here, I felt that I could handle
the
class fairly well. At the beginning, I didn't do all of the
assignments, thinking I knew how to do it. By not applying myself, I
fell behind, and when I got my first test back, the low grade was quite
a shock to me. That made me realize that I needed to work harder to
get
my grade up.
Along the way I've noticed if you do all of the homework problems, the
chapter reviews, listen in class, and ask questions, then the class
will
go along more smoothly. I've also learned that in order to do well,
you can't just simply know how to do certain problems, whether they be
examples, or homework. Understanding the concept behind the problem is
the key. Once you know how to do that concept, then all the problems
relating are more easy to solve.
Good luck in Math 175!|
