I feel that the most important advise I can give an incoming Calculus
student it to never get behind. Stay up to date with all of your
assignments and if you don't understand something at the beginning, get
help immediately. Everything you learn is built from previous
materials. I also recommend going to the tutor lab. Not only are the
tutors helpful, but there are always other students trying to iron out
the same problems. I think that working together as a group is a
helpful way of learning and studying. From my experiences, my highest
test score resulted from studying with classmates in the math lab.
One thing I wish I would've know is how important Algebra is in
Calculus. I blew off a majority of the Algebra review and was paying
for it for quite awhile. In my opinion, Calculus is not difficult -
its
the Algebra that is needed to get to the anwers that is the most
difficult.
In conclusion, my advise is to keep up with all assignments, to get
help
as soon as possilbe, and to do an extensive Algebra review.
