My Advice to a New Math 175 Student:

I think the biggest part to being successful in MTH175 is doing the work and keeping up. It is crucial that you have the suggested work problems done before class so you can ask questions. Then you can double check your work if someone asks a question you already worked and if you don't understand you can get help. For me it was helpful to do the suggested problems with a friend in class. Not only is this a good motivater, but the person may be able to help you understand something. The more ways you try to learn the material the better. If tutor sessions are offered go to them. Some sessions help some don't, but you won't know unless you attend. If you are still having trouble go talk to your professor. He is very understanding and tries to help you. You will also feel better knowing that he's aware of your effort and that you are doing your best to improve your own understanding. Other than that just relax and don't let it stress you out if you don't understand. If you're worried about not understanding than you probably won't. Give it time and just keep trying.
