My advice for new students would be to foremost know algebra and to
become very proficient at it. Every problem that we have done has some
algebra in it, and this is where many mistakes are made. Another thing
to do is to keep up with the assignments. Its tough to catch up if you
get behind, and the more problems you do the better you get at doing
the
problems. I think the biggest thing is to show up to all the classes
and pay attention. If you miss a day, you usually miss something
important and its tougher to learn by yourself. Also, its good to ask
other people who are in the class for help on calculus.
