What are the benefits for students who become McNair Scholars?
During their junior year, Scholars receive academic advising, and partner with a faculty mentor in their department to design a 10 week undergraduate research project.
The following summer, they carry out their research, participate in our Graduate School Seminar, and visit two doctoral campuses; they also earn a $2800 stipend.
During their senior year, Scholars present their research at a regional conference, and get help with graduate school applications, including assistance with personal statements and fee waivers for the cost of application.
All McNair Scholars participate in GRE prep sessions and get information about General Test fee reduction.
Being a McNair Scholar demonstrates seriousness of purpose and dedication toward ambitious goals; graduate schools are familiar with the program’s high standards.
